satan (santa) claus

Listen to audio to follow along

It is that time of year again where satan is still mocking our beloved Lord Jesus Christ through the traditions of men. I guess satan fails to realize that he is just storing up more wrath for himself and all his disobedient, commandment-breaking children that don’t love God (John 14:15). Those of us that love truth (Jesus), will change his or her way of life when the traditions of men are exposed where light has been presented. These true Christians will repent and no longer keep the ways of the world and what the world deems to be true. True Christians will not think twice about celebrating such things any longer once they find out about what is behind Christmas even if the world says that they are celebrating our Lord’s birthday because Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the Church…the first evidence of the feast is from Egypt.” “Pagan customs centering around the January calendars gravitated to Christmas.” “…In the Scriptures, no one is recorded to have kept a feast or held a great banquet on his [Jesus] birthday. It is only sinners who make great rejoicings over the day in which they were born into this world”  -Catholic Encyclopedia, 1911 Edition, published by the Roman Catholic Church .

One who loves Christ will follow in His footsteps and let go of what the world has taught them. We can see that “Christmas… It was, according to many authorities, not celebrated in the first centuries of the Christian church, as the Christian usage in general was to celebrate the death of remarkable persons [eg Communion - death of Christ] rather than their birth…” “…A feast was established in memory of this event [the birth of Jesus] in the fourth century. In the fifth century the Western Church ordered it to be celebrated forever ON THE DAY OF THE OLD ROMAN FEAST OF THE BIRTH OF SOL [SUN], as no certain knowledge of the day of Christ’s birth existed.” Emphasis added. -Encyclopedia Americana, 1944 Edition. A true Christian will detach themselves from the traditions of the world when a true servant of God (Revelation 14:12, 19:10) comes to them with light of truth.

We see today that there is an overwhelming majority in the world that professes to believe in Jesus Christ. Those professing Christians are sadly mistaken and are absolutely being deceived about the meaning behind Christmas. All Christians should know that the records show that the early “…Christian preachers of the West and the Near East protested against the unseemly frivolity with which Christ’s birthday was celebrated, while Christians of Mesopotamia ACCUSED THEIR WESTERN BRETHREN OF IDOLATRY AND SUN WORSHIP FOR ADOPTING AS CHRISTIAN THIS PAGAN FESTIVAL”Emphasis added-The New Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge. So, what many of the professing Christians don’t realize is that the early Christian did not celebrate any such Holiday and with good reason, it was pagan.

Over the past few centuries paganism flooded into the church of God. It has become well accepted by the Christian world. It was a battle during that age but as we see today it is no longer a battle, it is just another lie that has become accepted as truth. This is why you see the so called Christian world today engulfed by paganism. So with that said, Christmas has become a tradition of men and is no longer just for pagans. We who truly love God are fighting the good “fight of faith” (1 Timothy 6:12). It is a fight that all must go through if you are walking with Christ by striving to keep the Commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. (Revelation 14:12).  It is also a fight and a test of your loyalty to God to see when truth comes to you and the commandments of men and their traditions are exposed, what will you do? will you fall at the wayside and hold on to what you thought was true and later find out that all your worship is in vain (Matthew 15:9) or will you take hold of the truth that has been presented to you? For this is one of the reasons why those that live Godly in Christ will suffer persecution (2 Timothy 3:12) and will heed the words written,“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” Colossians 2:8. YOU WILL FACE YOUR TEST ON THIS TOPIC NOW!!!

Satan and his angels through the world make it very hard to obey the Commandments of God but through the power of the Godhead (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) and the Heavenly angels, we are very well able to overcome all of the world’s lies, including their laws that go against the law of God (Sunday Worship), and all the worlds traditions of men including its origins of pagan Holiday celebrations. Just to bring light to those of you that don’t know this, satan used paganism to destroy Christianity liketrinity instead of Godhead, commandments of men that are written in the world’s bogus bibles instead of the Commandments of God that are found in the King James Bible and such.

It is our duty and our privilege to share with you the truth about Christmas and its origin along with exposing satan. You will see the  mockery and hate that is behind Christmas towards the God of Heaven and earth. We can see where the word Merry Christ-mass comes from and just what it truly mean. There is only one religion that governs the world’s churches today and that is the Roman Catholic Church.

The word Merry Christmas:

 Pronunciation Key (mr)
adj. mer·ri·er, mer·ri·est

  1. Full of high-spirited gaiety; jolly.
  2. Marked by or offering fun and gaiety; festive: a merry evening.
  3. Archaic. Delightful; entertaining.
  4. Brisk: a merry pace.

Source = with the query “merry”

The word “Merry” is defined to mean great happiness and joy. What of the word Christ?

 Pronunciation Key (krst)
  1. The Messiah, as foretold by the prophets of the Hebrew Scriptures. Often used with the.
  2. Christianity. Jesus.

Source = with the query “Christ”

Of course we already understand Christ is the title our Lord Jesus has been ordained before the foundation of the world for all of us. Now all we need to do is define the word “Mass” in Christ-Mass. This is in fact a Roman Catholic word, so let us go to the Roman Catholic Encyclopedia to find its meaning.

“In the Christian law, the supreme sacrifice is that of the Mass.  …The supreme act of worship consists essentially in an offering of a worthy victim to God, the offering made by a proper person, as a priest, the destruction of the victim.” Source = Page 537 of the Catholic Encyclopedia

So, in essence the word Mass is defined as death sacrifice or “Destruction of the victim” according to the Roman Catholic church itself. So, when you say “Merry Christmas” you are actually declaring with great happiness and joy that Jesus is dead and gone. Kind of like the crucifix in the Catholic church declaring He is dead and they have proof they killed Him when they display His dead body for eons before the people. The Roman priests refuse to believe Christ is risen and Christ WILL come again. If they did they would at least remove Him from that cross!

By the way, when Santa Claus says “Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas” he is openly and boldly mocking the sacrifice of Christ WITH LAUGHTER!! -

What is the Name & Meaning of Christ-MASS

“The MASS is the unbloody renewal of the sacrifice of Christ on Calvary’s cross…Christ, through the ministry of the Roman Catholic priest, offers Himself to God in an unbloody manner under the appearances of bread and wine.” 10 (Christ is thus crucified afresh, obviously indicating His death on Calvary was insufficient.) “The mass is the same sacrifice as the sacrifice of the cross because the Victim is the same. The purpose of the mass is, among other things, to satisfy the justice of God for the sins committed against Him.” -Rev. John A. O’Brien, UNDERSTANDING THE CATHOLIC FAITH, Ave Maria Press, Nortre Dame, Ind, 1955, p. 212 1955, p. 212

“When the priest pronounces the tremendous words of consecration, he reaches up into the heavens and brings Christ down from His throne, and places Him upon the (Roman Catholic) altar to be offered up again as the victim for the sins of man…Christ became incarnate a single time, the priest brings Christ down from heaven and renders Him present on the (Roman Catholic) altar as the eternal Victim for the sins of man-not once but a thousand times! The priest speaks and lo! Christ, the eternal, omnipotent God, bows His head in humble obedience to the priest’s command…No wonder that the name which spiritual writers are especially fond of applying to the priest is that of ‘altar Christus.’ For the priest is and should be another Christ.” -Rev. John A. O’brien, FAITH OF MILLIONS, Our Sunday Visitor, Huntington, Ind., 1938, pp. 243-244

Note the following from the Word of God.

“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.” -HEBREWS 9:22

“For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. ” -HEBREWS 9:24-28.

“Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me) to do thy will, O God. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.” -Hebrews 10:5-18.

God loves you all and calls you to repent and turn to the truth found in His Word and to come out of her. Luke 3:13, Revelation 18:4. The so called Christian Churches of today are keeping the commandments of men and their traditions  like Christmas.

This is nothing more than paganism hiding behind Christianity that pagan Rome and its Catholic faith of SUN worship (Baal worship), can get the world to follow after their beliefs. Then as we all have seen when people don’t follow after them then they will eventually force you and then ultimately kill you. So, After you see some more overwhelming proof, we pray that you will let go of your traditions and your love for the world and take hold of truth because “friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4:4.

How Santa Mocks God (On Merchant’s Day)
By Gary C. Michael

Satan’s goal is to get us to see him instead of seeing God. He wants to be like the Most High in any way he can. God receives praise when we follow Him. Satan receives praise when we follow him. His strategy is to get us to follow him thinking that we’re following God.

I can see him now, laughing at God every time he convinces some soul to replace God with himself. It may seem like a lovable thing to do, but it may not be reality based. Example: We celebrate Christmas and we say, “I know that Christ was born. It doesn’t matter when. We choose Dec. 25th to represent his birth date. ” Then we follow the crowd and sing and tell lies about a fat clown in a red suit. Then we take our children to the malls to see this perfect man called Santa Claus. As innocent as Santa may seem, Satan is mocking God.

I’m about to destroy the image of Santa Claus, so if there are children that you don’t want to know the truth, you’d better get them out of here. This message is entitled “How Santa Mocks God.” Let’s start with Santa’s hair and eyes. Santa has white woolly hair. Right? His eyes are said to have a twinkle in them. Rev. 1:14 says, talking about Christ, “His head and His hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and His eyes were as a flame of fire.” Fire twinkles, doesn’t it? Are we talking about Jesus or Santa Claus?

Santa is from the North pole, right? Why the North? Why not the South pole? Well, God is from the North. We find in Isaiah 14:12-14 these words: “How art thou fallen from heaven, o Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the North: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most high.” I tell you, Santa is from the North because God is from the North.

Santa has unlimited power. Is there anything that Santa can’t do?  Ask a kid. There is no dispute about that. I don ‘t need a text to tell you that only God has unlimited power.

Santa is all knowing, huh? He knows when you are good or bad, so be good for goodness sake. You’d better watch out….you know the song. So we tell our children that Santa is omniscient (all knowing). Well, he would have to be in order to know about all the children in the world, wouldn’t he? I don’t need a text to tell you that only God is all knowing.

Santa is immortal. Have you ever heard of Santa being born? Oh, I know the story about Saint Nick. He was a generous man, but the legend of Santa Claus grew into the ridiculous tale that it is today. Only God is immortal.

Santa is perfect. Who does he need to repent to? Can Santa do any wrong? Ask a child. Who is Santa’s boss?  He has none. Does he ever say praise the Lord? Have you ever heard of Santa giving God glory or credit for anything?  If he did, he wouldn’t be Santa long. My, my, my.

Santa also judges us. I thought that was God’s job. But according to Santa he’s checking his list, checking it twice, gonna ‘ find out who’s naughty or nice. Jesus Christ is coming to town. No! That’s Santa Claus is coming to town. But I thought that Jesus was checking his list to see who has been naughty or nice and is coming to town to bring his rewards. Who’s gonna do it, Santa or Jesus? My, my, my.

Santa calls the children to come unto him, sits them on his lap and the children repent to him for the bad that they did during the year and promise to be good. I tell you, Jesus is the one we should teach our children to repent to. Jesus often called the children to him and said forbid them not. Santa is fooling our children. Santa is omnipresent, which means that he can be everywhere at the same time. How else can he visit every home on the same night?  I don’t need a text to tell you that only God can visit every home at once.

I don’t know about you, but I think that Santa is a clown. A big fat, jelly belly, rolely polely, curly headed clown. What about his red suit? Why red? Rev. 19:13 tells us why. “And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called the word of God.” Need I say more? Santa, like Jesus, is the same in character today, yesterday, and forever. When does Santa come?

On a foggy Christmas Eve Santa asked Rudolph to lead his sleigh that night. There is no dispute that Jesus is coming in fog. What is fog? Clouds. The Bible tells us that the clouds are angels. Gabriel will probably lead the coming of my savior, not Rudolph.

Santa lives in a shining ice palace, like clear glass. Why? Rev. 21:18 tells us why. “And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.” Santa is tended by elves, which are mysterious creatures. Just as God is tended by mysterious angels.

Come Christmas time we say that we celebrate the birth of Christ, but I ask you, who’s image do we see everywhere? Who get’s the most attention? Who is advertised most? Is it Jesus or Santa? If it is Jesus’ birth that we celebrate, why do we buy each other gifts? Do you know anybody else in the world who has a birth-day Celebration and the world buys each other gifts and leave the birthday person out of the celebration? My, my, my.

If you want to celebrate the birth of Christ this year, give to the church. It is not a sin to give gifts to each other but I just want to get the priorities straight. I hope this makes sense to you. If we say that we are celebrating Jesus’ birth, then he should get all of the gifts. The Bible says that the wise men brought gifts to Jesus. It does not say that the wise men or any men gave gifts to each other during the birth of Christ.

The merchants make millions each year and they program us by calling us a scrooge if we don’t help make them rich. If the church got all of those millions, the budget would not suffer as much. The church would not need to beg so much. Just think back over the years that you spent money on gifts and left Christ out. It’s like throwing a party for you and inviting everybody but you to your party.

Go to Wal-mart or Sam’s this year and buy the church some paper towels or toilet paper or paper plates or donate your gift to the church budget, but give your gift to Christ, if you are sincere about celebrating his birth. Oh some will find a way to compromise with the world so that no one will fuss at them.

I don’t know about you, but when I realized how Satan is playing with the world, I decided not to play with him. Since it was my choice, I grabbed my ball and went home. You know how children get mad while playing, and the one who owns the ball might grab it and go home.

What does Santa say before he enters? Ho, ho, ho. Why ho, ho, ho? The word “ho” comes from the Hebrew “ahaw” meaning listen, a word expressing pain with an exclamation point. Why would Satan use such a word? In the book of Zechariah chapter 2:6,7 we find the answer. God is talking to his people. “Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the North, saith the Lord. Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.” God is expressing pain in the fact that His people are on the wrong road. This is the only thing that causes God pain.

Satan is playing with God and with us. When God says ho, ho, pain, pain. Satan is saying “ho, ho, Ha. Ha.” and we are too slow to pick up on it, so we join in with him and pick at God while thinking that we are saying something nice. My, my, my.

Why Santa? Well, God has more than one name. Santa unscrambled spells Satan. I use to say they  x-ed Christ out of Christmas when they wrote x-mas instead of Christmas. Now I realize that Christ was never in Christmas. Col. 2:8 helps us to understand this fact. Colossians  2:8, “  Beware  lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. “

The Bible does not say anything about remembering the birth of Christ. There is no Bible principle that even suggests that we do. This is Satan’s doing and the idea caught on and is carried on by greedy men who couldn’t care less about Jesus. “If the name Jesus can bring a fast buck, then Jesus was born. Now, come buy my goods.”

I would like to ask, why do we need a Christmas tree for anything? We know that it has pagan roots. Must we mix this mess with the birth of Christ? Let’s look at Jeremiah 10:1-5  1. hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, o house of Israel: 2. thus saith the Lord, learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3. for the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.  4. they deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 5. they are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.    I’ve been told that “we don’t worship our tree.” But, it is interesting that one must kneel to retrieve a gift from under the tree. Satan is so smart. He knows how to insult God. Then there is a song called “Oh, Christmas Tree.” Is God happy with this? I don’t think so.

So, who was born on December 25th? His name was Tammuz. When Nimrod, the great hunter before(against) the Lord died, his wife had a son from another man. She told the people that her husband sent her seed through a sun ray as it shone into her bedroom window. Her name was Semiramis. The people fell for this lie. When he died, she told the people that he too was now a sun God as Nimrod was.

She went on to say that each year when the fall came, Tammuz was dying all over again, but each spring, he came back to life as evident in the flowers. So, 40 days before spring the women would start weeping for Tammuz to come back to life again. Ezekiel 8:14 “Then He brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord’s house which was toward the North; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.”

Today, they are called the 40 days of Lent. Could God be happy with any of this pagan activity,  including December 25th? Is Jesus being glorified? I don’t think so. We  all know what would happen if we abandoned Christmas, don’t we? Family & friend trouble, right? Can you endure being talked about? This message is either truth or error. Let us all pray and ask God what He would have us do and obey what we know. God is not the author of confusion.

December 25th The Birth of Jesus?

Sister Ellen White:

“The twenty-fifth of December is supposed to be the day of the birth of Jesus Christ, and its observance has become customary and popular. But yet there is no certainty that we are keeping the veritable day of our Saviour’s birth. History gives us no certain assurance of this. The Bible does not give us the precise time. Had the Lord deemed this knowledge essential to our salvation, he would have spoken through his prophets and apostles, that we might know all about the matter. But the silence of the Scriptures upon this point evidences to us that it is hidden from us for the wisest purposes. In his wisdom, the Lord concealed the place where he buried Moses. God buried him, and God resurrected him, and took him to heaven. This secrecy was to prevent idolatry.”

“For the very same purpose he has concealed the precise day of Christ’s birth; that the day should not receive the honour that should be given to Christ as the Redeemer of the world, – one to be received, to be trusted, to be relied on as he who could save to the uttermost all who come unto him. The soul’s adoration should be given to Jesus as the Son of the infinite God.

“There is no divine sanctity resting upon the twenty-fifth of December; and it is not pleasing to God that anything that concerns the salvation of man through the infinite sacrifice made for them, should be so sadly perverted from its professed design. Christ should be the supreme object; but as Christmas has been observed, the glory is turned from him to mortal man, whose sinful, defective character made it necessary for him to come to our world.”

“Even Christmas, the day observed professedly in honour of the birthday of Christ, has been made a most effective means of turning the mind away from Christ, away from his glory. ” -Review & Herald 12-9-1890

So for those that still carry the torch of true Christianity are those that are NOT rooted into this system of traditions of men. We Christians are to love God by keeping His Commandments and not the ways of the heathen. For more of an in depth study on this visit everything one needs to know about Christmas can be found here.

This is a test for all those that confess with their lips that they love Jesus. God will see your response to this truth provided. Repent, the kingdom of God is at hand. If the Holy Spirit is with you, He will convict you of what is truth and what is not. Many of us that are in the present truth had to endure these types of trials with our families and friends that we have loved so much but you must make a decision on this battle. Where is your loyalty? Are you with God or with satan and the world? This is another step one that professes their love for God needs to make. You either love God or the traditions of men.

Exodus 20:3, ” Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
Luke 13:3, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

How Shall We Observe Thanksgiving?—Our Thanksgiving is approaching. Will it be, as it has been in many instances, a thanksgiving to ourselves? Or will it be a thanksgiving to God? Our Thanksgivings may be made seasons of great profit to our own souls as well as to others if we improve this opportunity to remember the poor among us.

There are a hundred ways that can be devised to help the poor in so delicate a manner as to make them feel that they are doing us a favor by receiving our gifts and sympathy. We are to remember that it is more blessed to give than to receive. The attentions of our brethren are most liberal to those whom they wish to honor, and whose respect they desire, but who do not need their help at all. Custom and fashion say, Give to those who will give to you; but this is not the Bible rule of giving. The word of God declares against this way of gratifying self in thus bestowing our gifts, and says, “He that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.”

Now a season is coming when we shall have our principles tested. Let us begin to think what we can do for God’s needy ones. We can make them through ourselves the recipients of God’s blessings. Think what widow, what orphan, what poor family you can relieve, not in a way to make a great parade about the matter, but be as a channel through which the Lord’s substance shall flow as a blessing to His poor....

But this does not embrace all your duty. Make an offering to your best Friend; acknowledge His bounties; show your gratitude for His favors; bring a thank offering to God.... Brethren and sisters, eat a plain dinner on Thanksgiving Day, and with the money you would spend in extras with which to indulge the appetite, make a thank offering to God. The Review and Herald, November 18, 1884.

Let not any more Thanksgiving days be observed to please and gratify the appetite and glorify self. We have reason for coming into the courts of the Lord with offerings of gratitude that He has preserved our lives another year.... If a feast is to be made, let it be for those who are in need. The Review and Herald, December 23, 1884.

A Day to Give Thanks —I think we have something to be thankful for. We ought to be glad and rejoice in God, for He has given us many mercies.... We want this Thanksgiving to be all that it implies. Do not let it be perverted, mingled with dross; but let it be what its name implies—giving thanks. Let our voices ascend in praise.

Why Not Holidays Unto God?—Would it not be well for us to observe holidays unto God, when we could revive in our minds the memory of His dealing with us? Would it not be well to consider His past blessings, to remember the impressive warnings that have come home to our souls so that we shall not forget God?

The world has many holidays, and men become engrossed with games, with horse races, with gambling, smoking, and drunkenness....
Shall not the people of God more frequently have holy convocations in which to thank God for His rich blessings? Adventist Home, Page 474-476

It is a great cause of gratitude that we understand the nature of this day better than we once did. It is not designed to minister to our selfish gratification in the enjoyment of every luxury because God has bestowed upon us the rich bounties of his providence; on the contrary, we are to recall his mercies, and to meditate upon his favors with thankful hearts. To devote this day to gluttony, and our time and strength to the preparation of rich and expensive dishes, thus tempting our families and friends to gorge themselves, instead of offering thanksgiving to God, is the basest idolatry of self; for it is perverting the very best gifts of

Heaven to the indulgence of appetite. Many thus lay the foundation for disease and premature death, and furnish Satan an occasion for hellish exultation. The Review and Herald January 15, 1884.

As we know the Word of God is pretty plain about not following after that which the Pagan's embrace. As the prophecied Seventh day Remnant people of God, are we not those that would strive to do all that our Lord would find pleasing in His sight? I want to make Him smile as do many of you I'm sure. And with His smile we can rest assured our prayers never fall upon deaf ears. With that said, what does our Heavenly Father think about the tradition of birthday celebrations?

For a decade or so it has become more and more obvious to me that certain celebrations many of us as Christians take part in have been grieving our Lord. The last few years in fact I have been approached by more then a few Christians asking me if I celebrate birthdays or not. Usually I said yes, but I would also say I had some discernment that was bothering me on it and then leave it at that. In other words, I never really answered their questions. Recently the questions seemed to escalate as did the discernment. The Lord was sending so many Christians both on and offline asking the exact same questions. So, I looked into it and found some rather shocking facts that I would like to share.

I always thought that Pagan’s were the first ones to celebrate birthdays because of some research I’ve done long ago. This is no doubt the reason I was so uneasy about these celebrations over the years. There are many facts on and offline for anyone to research for themselves. But they all seem to say the same thing the following quote is saying…

"The various customs with which people today celebrate their birthdays have a long history. Their origins lie in the realm of magic and religion. The customs of offering congratulations, presenting gifts and celebrating - complete with lighted candles - in ancient times were meant to protect the birthday celebrant from the demons and to ensure his security for the coming year. . . . Down to the fourth century Christianity rejected the birthday celebration as a pagan custom." -"Schwäbische Zeitung" (magazine supplement Zeit und Welt) of April 3/4, 1981 pg. 4

Over the years I came across many similar statements and always assumed the Pagan’s were the first to celebrate birthdays because of such comments. Thing is, they no doubt were, however the one behind their desire was Satan as many are painfully aware just by looking at what Pagans do on a regular basis. Strangely enough, I found yet another group that has been celebrating birthdays all along. No one knows when this particular group or church formed officially, but it seems modern day Satanists look at birthdays as something their fallen god has “blessed” them with.

Before getting into the facts regarding this, I would like to see what Scriptures have to say on such things. In the Word, we find no evidence that birthday celebrations were sanctioned by God in any way shape or form. If they were, we would have such dates for at least the Patriarchs of old. For example, if birthdays were to be celebrated by the people of God we would know the birthdates of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, etc. Truth be known, we would even know the exact date of Jesus’ birth especially since He is the author of all births. Thing is, the Scriptures are rather quiet on this topic when speaking of the Lord's will. However, when we step into the area where Pagans are mentioned we see a different story. For just a few quick examples we find the Pharaoh of Egypt killed his baker on his birthday.

Genesis 40:20-22, "And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants. And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand: But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them."

Herod killed John the Baptist on his birthday. (Matthew 14:6)

Matthew 14:6-10, "But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask. And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger. And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her. And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison."

One thing that made me step back a bit in awe was what happened to Job's children. All of Job’s children gathered for birthdays on a regular basis. The Word actually illustrates that Job didn’t approve of this activity at all. In fact, he offered sacrifice for his children for such ungodly acts because of the temptation such merrymaking would usually lead to.

Job 1:4-5, "And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually."

As we can see, Job, a man of God, is genuinely concerned for his children when they meet together like this. So much so, he actually offers burnt offerings for each of them in case they do sin. Had this been a gathering sanctioned by God, Job would not have been compelled to do such a thing. In fact, looking into the terminology used in verse four, one finds something rather interesting. The term “every one his day” is the reason for the feast they gathered for. Does this not sound like a birthday celebration? Are not birthdays to this considered "your" day?

If you were inclined to use a different version Bible like a Thesaurus as I do on occasion to see how they translate a certain word. You would find in the “New Living Translation” the following wording being used to explain what the feasts were all about…

I of course don’t trust such bibles because they remove and re-write verses throughout the Word. This is what prodded me to create the “Bogus Bibles” page on this website some years ago. But such bibles like the NLT, NIV, NASB, and the like can be used as a quick Thesaurus of biblical terminology. Nothing more, nothing less. I must affirm, they are NOT to be trusted as the infallible Word of God as is the original King James version of the bible we hold dear today.

So the question remains, are birthdays that sinister? If so, is there any evidence to prove the enemy of souls would be the true culprit behind them? Some may not believe me on this, so I did surf to a site I do not approve of and I did in fact clip an excerpt from that evil site to prove this as fact. Their exact words are as follows.

“There is no requirement for participation in ritual activity. The techniques presented in our literature are for members to make use of as they so desire. Some Satanists enjoy the social atmosphere of group ritual and seek out others for this purpose. Many Satanists find their ritual activity to be very personal and prefer to remain solitary. Either path is acceptible to the Church of Satan. Indeed, there are no rules for frequency of ritual activity. Some celebrate the equinoxes and solstices as holidays, but of course one’s own birthday is the highest Satanic holiday of the year.” -This article originally appeared in a different form in A New Age: essays on current religious beliefs and practices published by Merrimac Books in 1992. It has since been revised and reprinted numerous times.

The Church of Satan actually declares birthdays to be the highest of all holidays wherein they can partake in Satanic ritual for the individual that is experiencing a birthday. I actually got the above quote off the “Church of Satan” website, and I am sure you will understand my God given reluctance to link it out from my site. If you want to verify the above quote, simply copy the quote and Google it at your leisure.

Birthdays are designed by the enemy of souls to cause a myriad of problems. I never truly caught all this until I decided to researched it out. So.. How does this work? Why would Satan create such a ritual as birthdays that on the surface appear quite innocent and actually come off as a nice way to show our love for each other. How does this generate problems in a Christian household you ask?

There are a few ways…

  1. It causes the one with the birthday to be exalted in an unnatural manner, which can and does generate the sin of envy in the hearts of most children as well as some immature adults. When a child gets a birthday gift a sibling or cousin wants, the sibling or cousin will be envious towards that gift and in so doing, sin is cultivated.
  2. The exaltation of a child at a birthday celebration also tempts them to crave unnatural attention and as many can attest to, some children become more unruly directly after such celebrations are over because they are suddenly looked upon as “normal” like everyone else after the party ends. They get upset because just a few hours ago they were looked upon as a celebrity of sorts, and now cold reality hits, and their glorification ends.
  3. The exaltation is especially harmful to some wherein vanity can be fostered into a lifelong crutch because of the way the heart feels when they are noticed above others during the merrymaking and so crave it afterwards.
  4. Like the Pagan holiday of Christmas, it causes those giving gifts to experience three common problems.

    a) During economic hardships, (like now) they are forced to waste money they need for other more important things so as to buy gifts. This unwise stewardship of their money causes them to suffer financially for it, which also cultivate despair.
    b) The gift given can generate both anger and discord when the recipient doesn’t appreciate the effort they went through to find, purchase, wrap, and present the gift.
    c) It causes grief and despair when the one giving the gift is unable to spend the extra money to get the gift they really wanted to give.
    d) And finally the sin of envy is generated when they are out-gifted by someone else that did have the extra money to give the better gift.

  5. It causes the one who is having the birthday to experience intense feelings of grief, sadness, and feelings of being unloved when loved ones don’t call, visit, give gifts, or even send cards or flowers to them.
  6. If the household is Christian, and loved ones that are not of the faith give gifts that are offensive to Christians, this in turn causes friction where none should be. It also tempts the Christian to let it slide for the sake of not offending the gift giver. If the temptation is embraced, and the gift accepted, the child is now confused when they witness a double standard being presented by the Christian parents. Worse yet, the non-believing gift giver also witnesses this double standard and uses it to confirm their desire to steer clear of Christianity.
  7. Another aspect of the Christian family being approached by non-believers bearing birthday gifts is when the parents do the right thing and refuse the offensive gift. The assumed good act of the nonbeliever is now looked upon as offensive, which is not so much the problem as we know Truth offends many. However, the child that is now prevented from receiving the gift they now crave may be tempted to dislike or distrust Christianity when a toy they now desire is taken away. It can now be illustrated to the child that Christianity prevents happiness if the child is not well grounded in the faith.
  8. Like Christmas, some are tempted to commit crimes to ensure their children have birthday gifts.
  9. Birthdates are also the catalyst of what we now see as a universally accepted billion dollar business practice today. Horoscopes and biorhythms have become extremely popular and trusted as if they were written by God Himself. This is of course without mentioning other multi-billion dollar companies that offer birthday cards, candles, cakes, party decorations, clowns, gift wrappings, etc.
  10. Finally, commandment #2 is broken when either the person or the gift is idolized.

Speaking of the Horoscopes, where you aware of this historic fact?

The ancient world of Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Persia celebrated the birthdays of gods, kings, and nobles. Authors Ralph and Adelin Linton reveal the underlying reason for this. In their book The Lore of Birthdays, they write: Mesopotamia and Egypt, the cradles of civilization, were also the first lands in which men remembered and honoured their birthdays. The keeping of birthday records was important in ancient times principally because a birth date was essential for the casting of a horoscope.- The Encyclopedia Americana (1991 edition)

Like Christmas, birthdays have a very high suicide rate as well. The elderly weep when their children don’t visit them at home or worse yet the nursing home. Or some people weep and experience intense feelings of despair when a deceased loved one’s birthday comes to pass. I know this for a fact when a loved one died in the family and his birthday came up, one of my siblings, had a rough time as she was the mother of that child.

Please understand, I am not saying the date of someone’s birth is Pagan. Nor am I saying getting a year older is Pagan. I’m not even saying giving gifts any time of the year is Pagan. I would rather give gifts to loved ones whenever the mood strikes just because I love them and not because some tradition says I must do so on a specific date with celebration, decorations, special candles, etc.

All the celebration and merrymaking associated with birthday celebrations is where temptation to sin is brought in to play. This is why Job was offering sacrifice for his children that did gather on birthdays. He knew the drinking, feasting and merrymaking might lead to sin as it usually does. Sad thing is, it was during Job’s eldest son’s birthday celebration that Satan was allowed to send a tornado that killed all ten of Job’s children. Is this why Job cursed the day of his birth in Job 3 because of what happened on the day of his son’s birth? Strange thing is, if birthdays are all that important, or even considered a day of reckoning, why did the prophet Jeremiah also curse the day he was born?

When we look in Scripture we only see birthdays associated with grave events. Temptation to sin is always escalated in merrymaking and drunkenness. This is what happened at Herod’s birthday celebration did it not? All the merrymaking and drunkenness got the best of him that day as is apparent in Scripture. He simply lost control and got carried away by the moment and made a hasty promise he never would have made on any other day. As we know, he was forced to keep that promise that caused the death of John the Baptist. The Word also shares that when Pharaoh's birthday arrived he too held a feast, and a man died at that feast as well. So, yes, merrymaking can often lead to sin. Especially when most people drink alcohol during such festivities as was the case back then. Even Christian families have been known to consume this poison at such celebrations only to regret it for many reasons later.

Now yes, I understand some will accuse me of hiding some not so grave events occurring on birthdays in Scripture. They go so far as to say the 12th year of the Jewish boy or girl that is “coming of age” in the Jewish faith is celebrated in a Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah is considered a bible sanctioned birthday celebration, when in fact they are not. Birthday celebrations are annual celebrations as we all know. These Jewish events happen only one time in the lifetime of a Jewish boy in the Bar Mitzvah, or a girl in the Bat Mitzvah, and only at the age of 12. That can in no way be associated with the annual birthday celebrations.

One more amazing fact many seem to miss is that when we are born, and then one year later we are not by any means 12 months old. We are actually 21 months old to be exact. Life is started at conception and for 9 months, we are growing in our mother's womb. To say we are 12 months old a year after birth is a lie. Not only that, it belittles the fact we were alive on day one. This may seem a little thing for some, but this is how Satan manipulates the minds of the masses. To deny the fetus it's existence entirely by declaring life starts are birth makes it that much easier for us to come to a state of mind that says abortion is acceptable.

Some have also suggested that when Jesus was born the wise men brought Him gifts. First of all, this too happened only one time in His life, and it was well after His actual day of birth to boot. It is written that the men bearing the gifts arrived at His home when He was “young child” in Matthew 2:11. Keeping this in context, a long standing tradition in the East at that time was to present gifts when one came in the presence of a King. These men were called “wise” because they knew of this King Jesus when most knew nothing of His Kingship. Scriptures speak of gifts being given to Kings all throughout the Bible. So again, this cannot be considered “birthday gifts” given unto Jesus when He was a young Child as it was only done once and on a date other than His day of birth. This ancient custom of presenting gifts to the king actually caused some kings to receive gifts multiple times a week due to visits from dignitaries or newcomers.

As close as we are to the arrival of our Lord and Saviour, one would think striving to perfection would be foremost upon our hearts and minds with each passing day. I am ware some of you do in fact strive to that end as the emails and phone calls confirm. Any opportunity to be pulled off the path to Christ should be abhorred like the fires of Hell. If we are striving to become strong Christians that not only follow after Christ but strive to be perfect in Christ, then the following passage would be the best epitaph of our lives; if in fact we were are called to leave this fertile soil before Christ returns, and in so doing we did so with a perfected Christ like walk.

Amazing how the men of God in Scripture curse the day they are born, yet seek to be all they can be for God at the day of their death knowing doing so will warrant the best possible blessing known to man, the better resurrection. Makes perfect sense does it not? When you are born you have a lifetime of trials ahead of you that if you lack faith, may cause your eternal demise. But the day of ones death could also be a grandiose day if in fact we come to that day as did Paul wherein he declared...

Paul looked to the day of his death as a blessed day worthy of mention. Can you now see Satan’s fingerprints upon this so called personal holiday called birthdays? It does the exact opposite of the precious Scriptural insight we have from our Lord. Instead of seeking for an honored day of death that guarantees a “better resurrection,” the birthday ritual seeks to honor the day all men of God call cursed. One would think any day this side of eternity is cursed, with the exception of the day we came to a realization of our sinful state in need of a Saviour. If there is one thing Satan can be counted on to do is that he will always take that which is unblessed to make it appear blessed.

When we are born.. we are just starting our walk to find our way home to Heaven. Life is filled with tens of thousands of paths that are placed there by Satan to lead us away from our eternal reward. But if we strive to keep on the path that leads to Christ, the day of our death will always be a far greater day then the day of our birth. For eternal life is a far greater reward then mortal life, or any trinket accepted during this time. And no, I haven’t forgotten those that like to peer into what Sister White would have to say about such things.

“I have resolved from this time to make Christ first and last and best in everything. I will not sanction feasts made to celebrate birthday or marriage anniversaries, but will bend all my energies to lift up Jesus among the people. I will seek to impress upon the minds of my brethren and sisters the great necessity of preparation of heart, by confession and humiliation, to be accepted of God and acknowledged as his dear children. My heart has ached as I have seen men honored, while Jesus was neglected and almost forgotten,--liberal gifts for earthly friends, but poor and meager offerings for him to whom we owe our all.” –Signs of the Times, January 4, 1883 par. 8

Parents have not taught their children the precepts of the law as God has commanded them. They have educated them in selfish habits. They have taught them to regard their birthdays and holidays as occasions when they expect to receive gifts, and to follow the habits and customs of the world. These occasions, which should serve to increase the knowledge of God and to awaken thankfulness of heart for His mercy and love in preserving their lives for another year, are turned into occasions for self-pleasing, for the gratification and glorification of the children. They have been kept by the power of God through every moment of their life, and yet parents do not teach their children to think of this, and to express thanksgiving for His mercy toward them. ...Not only on birthdays should parents and children remember the mercies of the Lord in a special way, but Christmas and New Year's should also be seasons when every household should remember their Creator and Redeemer. Instead of bestowing gifts and offerings in such abundance on human objects, reverence, honor, and gratitude should be rendered to God, and gifts and offerings should be caused to flow in the divine channel. Would not the Lord be pleased with such a remembrance of Him? O how God has been forgotten on these occasions! . . . -Counsels on Stewardship 296

Am I demanding all that I call friends, loved ones, brothers and sister in Christ that trust me or my message to stop celebrating birthdays? No, for I am not one seeking the office of a Pope. No man can force another man to believe from the heart. It is an individual relationship we have with Christ that cuts that deep. Over the years I have been slowly but surely drawn to investigate this, and I must admit I dragged my feet a bit on it because most of my loved ones and friends do in fact celebrate birthdays. But recently the Lord has been moving me more and more to research this out. When I did so a bit too slowly, He lit a fire under me by prodding many of you to come forward to ask me to investigate this, and now I see why. For that I am grateful.

As I said earlier, I was shocked to find what I did on this. Still, all in all, this is YOUR decision to make. All I can do is share what I discovered with you. If it has helped you, praise the Lord. If you truly and honestly don’t see any wrong in birthday celebrations, I will not think any the lesser of you for it. If I am mistaken, the Lord will wink at my ignorance on this topic just as much as He will yours. That is why He is so worthy of our love and worship. He truly will never hold anything against us that we honestly don’t understand to be sin. And I stress the word “honestly” here because you cannot hide your heart from the God that created it. He is a loving Father to His children. Expect Him to be exactly as He has promised. You can truly take Him at His Word. - Written by:
