Country Living: Last Call part 2

Isaiah 58:13-14, “And [they that shall be] of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.”

Lessons from God’s men in the Bible:
Abraham - During his time, there was widespread Babylonian idolatry around him.
Genesis 12:1, "Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee:"

Hebrews 11:8, "By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went."


Moses
Acts 7:22, "And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds."
Exodus 2:11, "And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren."

Israelites in Bondage
Exodus 20:2, "I [am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage."


John the beloved
John 20:2, “Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.” 


Elisha
1 Kings 19:19, "So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who [was] plowing [with] twelve yoke [of oxen] before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him."

Exodus 20:12, “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”

David

John the Baptist

God’s remnant people
Revelation 12:17, “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

 

THE BENEFITS OF COUNTRY LIFE:

1.    Moral influence

 

a.    Simple living

 

b.    Exposed to nature

 

c.    Closer communion with God

 

d.    Character development

a.    Pure air

 

b.    Pure water

 

c.    Peace and serenity

 

d.    Organic fruits and vegetables

 

e.    Physical Labor

 

3.    Preparing for what is to come

 

WHAT COUNTRY LIVING SHOULD LOOK LIKE:

1. Far from neighbors as possible

 

2. Humble home

 

3. Growing fruits and vegetables

 

4. Learning to can them for the winter time

 

5. Becoming physically fit

 

6. We must become self-sufficient, being able to sustain our family with the fruits and vegetables.

 

7. Early settlers in America

 

THIS IS NOT COUNTRY LIVING:

1. Neighbors are next door

 

2. Too many people around

 

3. Living in neighborhoods

 

4. You have no place to grow or very little room

 

5. Your home is just outside a city - Suburbia

 

6. Too close to the city

Psalms 127:3, "Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward."
