The Second Apartment / Most Holy Place

John 1:29, “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

John 14:15, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

John 19:30, "...he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

The table of stones in our heart.
Psalms 7:1-3, “My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee. Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

Hebrews 8:10, “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.” 

The ceremonial law was finished at the cross, when Christ gave up the ghost.
John 19:30, "...he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."
Colossians 2:14, “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.”

Our body is the temple.
1 Corinthians 6:19, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

A veil separates the two apartments (Holy Place and Most Holy Place)
Exodus 26:33, “And thou shalt hang up the veil under the taches, that thou mayest bring in thither within the veil the ark of the testimony: and the veil shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy.”

The only furniture found in the Most Holy Place is the ark.
Complete description of the ark. Exodus 25:10-21
The ark is made of shittim wood like the other furniture in the sanctuary. 
imension = 2.5cubits long, 1.5 cubits wide and 1.5 cubits high. 
The overall furniture was overlaid with gold inside and out.
There are 4 rings around it where they put the stave which was overlaid with gold as well
staves = to carry the ark when it was time to move to another location.
On top of the ark which is the cover of that sacred chest is called the mercy seat with two golden cherubims covering their wings on the mercy seat (Exodus 25:21).  

There is the table of stones inside the ark.
Exodus 25:21, “…and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.”
Deuteronomy 10:2, “…thou shalt put them in the ark.”

The command to build a sanctuary:
Exodus 25:8, “And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. --- this was the command of God to Moses.”

Exodus 25:9, “According to all that I show thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.”

The ark was the first furniture mentioned to be made.
Exodus 25:10, "And they shall make an ark."

The reason for all the sacrifices is the broken law.
Romans 4:15, “Where no law is, there is no transgression.” 
Romans 3:13, “…but sin is not imputed when there is no law.”
1 John 3:4, "…sin is the transgression of the law."

Leviticus 16:15, “Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat.”

Sin requires the death of a victim.
Romans 6:23, “…wages of sin is death.”

The ark in the earthly sanctuary. Exodus 25:10

Revelation 11:19, "And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament."

Blood of animals as sacrifice for sin.
Leviticus 16:15, “Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat.”

The blood of Christ shed for the forgiveness of sin. Revelation 1:5, “And from Jesus Christ, [who is] the faithful witness, [and] the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.” 

Galatians 3:13, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law.”

 

The high priest entered into the second apartment once a year.
Leviticus 16:34, “And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year.”

The closing work of our High Priest in Heaven.
Daniel 8:14, “And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.”

The high priest offered a sacrifice in the holy place.
Leviticus 16:3, “Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.” 

Christ our High Priest entered into the Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary.
Hebrews 9:24, “For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us.”

Exodus 25:22, “And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.”

Mercy seat – above it is where God communed with the priest
Exodus 25:22, “And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.”

No profane hands were to touch the ark
2 Samuel 6:6-7, “And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

 

3 Sons of Levi (Numbers 3:17) and their specific assignments:

1. Gershon - the Gershonites ( their tents to the west or behind the tabernacle. Numbers 3:23)
Tasks:
Numbers 3:25-26, “And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof.”

2. Kohath - the Kohathites (pitched their tents to the south of the tabernacle. Numbers 3:29, except for Moses and Aaron.)
Tasks:
Numbers 3:31-32 And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof. And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be chief over the chief of the Levites, and have the oversight of them that keep the charge of the sanctuary.

Summary of duties: 
1. Priest (high priest and common priest)
2. In charge of the furniture and the vessels of the sanctuary.
Furniture: the table of showbread, candlestick, the altars (golden altar of incense, brazen altar of sacrifice)
Vessels: the pans to receive the ashes in the altar of sacrifice, the shovels, basins, fleshhooks, firepans (Exodus 27:3). dishes, spoons, covers, bowls (Exodus 25:29), vessels of the candlestick.
Numbers 7:9, "But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders" 

3. Merari - the family of Merari or called the Merarites (they pitched their tents to the north of the tabernacle. Numbers 3:35)
Tasks:
Numbers 3:36-37, "And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all that serveth thereto, And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins and their cords.
Summary: Their main responsibility was the taking care of the boards, bars, pillars, sockets and the vessels of the tabernacle. When it was time to move, the family of Merari took charge of these things.

Numbers 7:6-8, “And Moses took the wagons and the oxen, and gave them unto the Levites. Two wagons and four oxen he gave unto the sons of Gershon, according to their service: And four wagons and eight oxen he gave unto the sons of Merari, according unto their service, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.”

Numbers 7:9, "But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders."

Revelation 12:12, "Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." 

James 2:12, “So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.”

Acts 17:30, “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.”

The Ark – a place of refuge
1. Noah’s ark - Genesis 6:14
, “Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.”

Genesis 6:13, “And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”

2. The ark made of bulrushes - Exodus 2:3, “And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.”

Pharaoh commanded that every male baby should be killed:
Exodus 1:22, “And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.”

Revelation  22:14, "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."

Ephesians 4:14,   “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.”

1 Timothy4:1, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”
Deuteronomy 29:29, "The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law."
